Come fishing with me for wild carp

The annual auction for the Wild Trout Trust is in full swing and includes a lot donated by me. You can bid for it here.

My lot in the Wild Trout Trust charity auction

Details of the lot is: "A weekend’s fishing for wild carp in the mountains of mid-Wales with Nigel 'Fennel’ Hudson, chairman of the new Wild Carp Trust. You will stay in a tipi, cook over an open fire (subject to local permission) and fish in glorious surroundings. The lot includes a signed copy of Nigel’s bestselling book, Wild Carp. Weekend to be taken during the summer months and can be rolled over to 2022 if required."

It promises to be a fun weekend where the winning bidder and I will fish for wildies at one or both of my favourite lakes: Pant y llyn and Llyngwyn in mid-Wales. It will be a mini adventure and proper relaxing escape where we can fish using either traditional coarse tackle or fly techniques. We'll talk about wildies and the conservation work of the new Wild Carp Trust, enjoy wild surroundings and, most likely, good food and few drinks.

Funds from the auction go to the Wild Trout Trust, an organisation I've supported since it was founded in 1997. The Trust is a conservation charity working across Britain and Ireland to help anyone interested in making a better world for our rivers, lakes and their wildlife, including our native trout. Flourishing wild trout populations are a sign of the health of our waterways and the land around them. The Trust's team of expert conservation officers work with landowners, local communities, fishing clubs, rivers trusts and government agencies to offer practical advice and hands-on habitat improvement projects.
